Canvas Displays Update | Midwifery Services of Sarnia-Lambton {Business} | Sarnia Newborn Photographer

Can you believe it was already back in March 2011 that I posted about hanging a display in the Midwifery Services of Sarnia-Lambton! Much has evolved since then and I am so excited to see where my work has taken me while still loving the rawness of some of my original sessions. With that being said, it is important as a Photographer to keep things “fresh” and always shows your versatility and improvements.

I had changed the display in the office again in the end of last year when I swapped out the 3 canvas of little Miss Georgia Grace to include photos of the former Midwife’s (and a great friend of mine’s) new baby girl, Mauve. Below is a digital account of the grouping that was placed int he room. I love, love, love the photos of Mauve, but over time realized that finger prints on the glass, dust on the frames, etc was not the vision I had for this room… so more canvas!!!

The Mommy Market Show in Petrolia was just around the corner so I knew it was the perfect time to update both my display at the show as well as in their office. So Georgia returned to the office (marking one of my 1st newborn sessions), Megan and baby Z have stayed (they have been a client favorite), Mauve will be gracing the walls of my office and I bring you 2 new wall display groupings (a maternity and a newborn). I really think you will like the outcome; I know the midwives do!

Last year the majority of my newborn sessions were for first-time parents. This summer has been all about the siblings! It has been so fun to watch the excitement in the little ones over the arrival of their first, 2nd or even 3rd, sibling! It took a little time for Cohen to warm up to me, but once he did it became pure magic!! He is such a fun 2 year old and watching him touch his mommy’s belly, play with the truck, rocks and the sand takes me to those moments with my own little ones. The fun and innocence in every moment!

Jamie and Katie, I can’t wait to meet your little one. I can see the love you have for little Cohen and know that his little brother or sister will be showered in the same type of affection. You have such a beautiful little family… I cant wait to work with you as it grows!

**How cute are the shots with the little fishing pole… just LOVE his excitement!!

When I met with Rob and Amy to do their Maternity session I was just in awe of the love I witnessed between these two! A pregnancy is an exciting time for many couples, but with them you could feel the excitement. There was this sincerity in their every touch, and when I saw them look into eachothers eyes, it was as if no one else was present… just lost in eachother! I always love asking my daddies about the impending arrival of their little one. I will never forget Robs reaction… there were not a lot of words said but the glistening in his eyes and the quiver of his lip said it all. In that very moment I melted! As if that weren’t enough, mommy was just radiant!! The way her blue eyes popped with the color of her shirt, and her accessories… perfection! These two were destined to find eachother and their love is now becoming tangible in this world by the arrival of their little one!

I would love to point out the vintage quilt used in this session. It belonged to a grandparent in the family and has a lot of special meaning to them. Not only was it used during their wedding, but it will also be incorporated into their newborn session.

You know what I love more than a sweet couple during a maternity session? A sweet couple plus 2 beautiful kiddos as well! I had the absolute pleasure of working with Nicole & Jason as they eagerly awaited the arrival of their 3rd child. This session & their impending newborn session was special for two reasons. 1) Nicole was referred by her Sister-in-law, Alicia after I did their son Nash’s newborn photos in 2011 (Nash {Newborn} | Sarnia Newborn Photographer) and 2) This was not only their 3rd and last child, but the 1st one to get newborn photos. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard, “Well I didn’t get them done for my 1st so I don’t think it would be fair to get them for my 2nd”, etc. What I hear even more a few weeks later, “Why didn’t I get his/ her newborn photos done!?!?”

For those of you who may end up in this same situation, let me offer you a little advice. I believe each newborn should be treated uniquely! You will find you won’t be able to do everything for your 2nd, 3rd, 5th even 10th that you did for the 1st ones. Take me for example. I have a few thousand photos of my sons 1st year yet only a few hundred of my daughter. It is a proven thing, that the more children you have, the busier you get. So PLEASE take photos as much as you can, even if it is just during a milestone. I started doing photography right around the time my daughter was born, so I have no “professional” shots of my son and the attempt I made at newborn ones of my daughter were quite honestly a disaster. So what will I do when I have a 3rd, 4th or 5th (JK on the 5th. haha, Tim you thought you got your way!!). I will for sure do newborn photos!!! Chances are by the time they turn 18 that may be 1 of the only sessions they have to look back on!

Happy Friday everyone! I wanted to share a little post from a little spur-of-the-moment Maternity Session I did with my cousin, Amy. Isn’t she radiant!!! I am so excited to fly out and capture photos of her little man after he arrives in March!!!

It is so hard to believe we are already in the middle of January! It seems like just yesterday I was doing the maternity session for Thera and Tyler on a brisk Fall day! When I say brisk, I feel like I should award Thera a medal for her commitment to her wardrobe selections… I was FREEZING while wearing a hooded sweatshirt! Many people in our area can back me when I say that there are times when the wind blowing in from the lake can be down-right-icy! Thanks to the added warmth of little Miss. J, the excitement of her impending arrival and the comforts of a special book I was able to capture some truly special photos! **Would love to Note that the book in the photos is very special to daddy as his mommy used to read it to him when he was little!!!

We have a family property that I have just fallen in love with! What I love the most is that every time I am there is looks different. As we went through the summer the weeds got taller and the crops got larger. I was so excited when I went to scout it out for Kate and Nate’s Maternity session and found that in the week since I had been there last the prettiest wildflowers had bloomed. The property was covered in mustard yellow, vibrant purples and crisp whites. All made for the perfect backdrop for Kate and Nate! As you will see, these two are one photographic couple. Their chemistry and love for their little boy was undeniable.

I know I have said it before but I just LOVE my maternity sessions… there is something so special about the beauty you capture during a wonderful time in a parents life. Especially for first time parents! T he warm glow of the setting sun, the way her tenderly touches her belly, the look of love in their eyes… it is pure magic!

A little note regarding their session: We all know that balancing a business with family life can be a challenge at times. Add being a stay-at-home mommy of a 11-month old and 2.5 year old adds to the fun! Below is a note I received from Tanya after I delivered their photos. It is so hard to believe that it has already been 7 years since those crazy busy days of going to University full-time, working at an accounting firm and being a waitress at Chilis! Kourtney and I met when we both ran through the dinning room at Chilis serving fajitas and margaritas with a smile! The days of cramming and pulling all night-ers over stacks of books with a Starbucks in hand has been replaced with all night-ers of fussy babies with diaper changes and bottles being warmed.

Kourtney your little man Brayden is just adorable! His little mischievous smile reminds me so much of my little Rowen. I can only imagine the chaos those two could create together! I wish so badly I could visit and be there to photograph your beautiful little Gianna! Best of luck on Monday hun!!

*I just have to say that the last picture cracks me up! Such a mommy moment having a toddler!!
