Cooper 50th Anniversary! {Celebrations} | Sarnia Family Photographer

I was so intrigued when Gary contacted me. He wanted me to photograph a very special time in his parents life, their 50th Anniversary! Remembering so fondly my own grandparents Golden Anniversary, I knew I wanted to be a part of their day. What had me so intrigued you may ask? That the family session would consist of 19 people! As many photographers will tell you, photographing groups of this size can pose many questions with the main one being if everyone will be an active participant. As you can see, that was not a problem… at all! The Cooper Family was such an absolute pleasure to work with! They were so kind and had such a positive energy.

Rose and Fred, Congratulations on reaching such a special milestone in your lives. As I was watching you interact with your family it brought to mind one of my favorite country songs…

I was so excited when I decided to book sessions when I was in California visiting family and friends. I knew this would be a way to not only expand my business but to see some friendly faces I haven’t seen in a while (or in person at least, thanks to Facebook). Janda and I went to High School together, so when she contacted me to do photos of her little man, Ryan I was just elated! As you can see he is absolutely adorable! I just wanted to kiss his little cheeks, and although I may be standing in line, I have already requested that he take our little Madeline out on a date… when she is 25!

Greg and Janda, thank you so much for asking me to photograph your little man and family. It was so great to finally meet the 2 men that have made you so happy! A big Thank You to Oak Farm Vineyards for allowing me to use their beautiful grounds as my backdrop. As you can see it is a stunning place to visit or host your next event!

I hope you all love the photos as much as I do and be prepared… this is a big one!

When I captured this shot during a session in California and it really made me laugh. Having 2 young children of my own (2 and 9 months) and at one point hair to my lower back, I know all to well about the hair grabs. Sometimes you expect them and other times you realize you have just lost 20 strands of hair without any warning, as I did last night! This is for the mommies out their that know this scenario all to well…

As many of you know, I am newer to the Sarnia area. I grew up in California and moved here in May 2009 after meeting an amazing Canadian boy. With living out in the country, and having 2 young children I have found it somewhat difficult to meet people not only for friendship purposes but for business as well. We all know how hard it is to get your name out there. I have been very fortunate to get some great exposure from 3 wonderful events. The Sarnia Baby Show, Mommy Market Sale in Petrolia and the Spring/ Summer Mom-to-Mom Show in Sarnia helped me to formally introduce my business. Michelle is just another wonderful mommy I have met in the process.

I know I say it all the time, but wow do I love my job!!! I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the Willemsvandyk family on a nice mild June evening… we braved the mosquitoes and I got some amazing shots! As you will see their family is stunning!!! Many times with small children you never know what your are going to get… whether it is a fussy child, one who refuses to look at the camera or the all too common child that will not sit still (because how many of us can actually say our child will sit in one place for more than 15 seconds! haha!). I actually welcome those type of sessions, because I find the harder the work, the greater the reward. I personally love the candid shots you get from a session with children… being in their element and letting them do their thing. You get photos that are reflective of their personalities…not mine!

All I have to say is look at those baby blues!!! Thank you so much Michelle and Jay for allowing me to photograph your beautiful family… I could not have asked for a better session with a 7, 2 1/2 and 7 month old!!!

There is nothing better than waking up bright and early, cup of coffee and camera in hand and heading out the door on a beautiful spring morning to do what I love… photographing 2 beautiful babies! As you can see little Lucas and Leah were just adorable! Looking at them reminded me so much of my own little loves. Leah is a very curious 7 month old contently showing off her new skill of sitting on her own and beginning to crawl and Lucas is a highly energetic 4 year old who loved playing with his cars and climbing on… well, everything!

I met their mother Ashley at the Petrolia Mommy Market Sale and Baby Bonanza and just fell in love with little Leah when I saw her. I was so excited when she followed up with me to do their photos. Thank you so much Pat and Ashley for choosing me to photograph your little ones.. they were so pleasant and provided me with so many stunning photos!

I just have to share a few of my favorite shots in black & white. There is something so stunning about the way an image appears without the presence, and sometimes distractions of color. Not to mention the photos now match any rooms color scheme.

Pretty in Pink {Bright & Vivid} | I Heart Faces Weekly Challenge

This weeks I Heart Faces theme is Bright & Vivid. When I read the guidelines I knew right away I wanted to enter a photo from one of my latest sessions… I had the pleasure of doing a session with a truly wonderful family last week. As you can see, their daughter Taylor is just gorgeous! I just fell i love with her bright blue eyes, beautiful wavy hair and the way she can captivate you in every image taken of her! As much as this image is “Bright & Vivid”, I just love how it is so peaceful and full of tranquility as well.

Rowen {Children} | Sarnia Ontario Family Photographer

Wednesdays are bittersweet in our house… My mother-in-law is wonderful and picks Rowen up first thing in the morning. He gets to spend the first part of the day helping her in the barn with the baby “piggies” (as much as a 2 year old possibly can!) and the rest of the afternoon running different errands and hanging out at their house until Daddy gets home from work. I say it is bittersweet because as much as I am able to tackle some tasks around the house as well as catch up on editing… it is so quiet! I LOVE his energy and the frequent interruptions to play “choo-choo” or just for a simple hug and kiss. It is truly amazing to look at how fast the time is going by! My baby boy has quickly grown into my little bubba, and it feels like before I know it he will be a little man! I know I have said it before, but I feel so truly blessed to be a mommy to 2 amazing kiddos… I love you so much Rowen and Madeline!!! Xoxo

** As much as I photograph other families and children, I have made it a goal of mine to not loose track of the milestones in my own family’s life. Below is a photo from the little 2-year Session that Tim and I did with Rowen… as you already know, there will be more to come!
